we are not building a new recreation center, we are building a community

Greenville, TX, located an hour northeast of Dallas, is addressing the growing needs of its community by developing a new recreation center. This initiative follows the closure of the local YMCA, which highlighted the need for additional recreational space. The new center will be built in the town's Sports Park and will feature a natatorium, a leisure and lap pool, a six-court gymnasium for high school basketball tournaments, and tenant space.

Design Threads

The Design Threads for the recreation center in Greenville are Catalyst, Nourish, Aspire, and Flourish.

Catalyst focuses on transformation & growth, this is seen in intersections of pathways and where materials & graphics intersect.

Nourish underscores the importance of creating inclusive & welcoming environments by using natural materials & colors, as well as designing spaces for connection.

Aspire emphasizes creating spaces that encourage exploration and personal growth. This is reflected in the strong vertical elements like the elevator core that spans from the ground floor to the roof.

Flourish drives the centers to be beacons of positivity by being environments where individuals can thrive. Natural light, open space, and vibrant community areas were a focus for both centers.
