The Fort Lupton Public & School Library was formed in 1975 when the city council approved the association of combining the school library and the public library. In 1993, the library moved into an expansion at Fort Lupton High School. The public library and the high school were connected for 30 years. In an effort to improve safety and security, public access was removed from the High School library, and the new combined library was built.
In the spring of 2019, the Fort Lupton Public and School Library awarded a contract to BRS for community engagement, programming, design, and construction administration services for a new library of approximately 14,000 square feet.
BRS worked closely with the Fort Lupton Library staff during the Programming phase of the project to facilitate public meetings. For maximum participation, these meetings presented materials in both English and Spanish. The effort was well received and provided the design team with insight from all members of the community. From there, the stakeholders evaluated the findings to confirm the scope and ensure it fit within the predetermined budget.
