The Bend Park and Recreation District hired the Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture and team to design a remodel and expansion to their existing Larkspur Senior Center building located in Larkspur Park. The existing 14,000 square foot Senior Center was amended to provide more of the existing class offerings, and the 36,000 square foot addition includes a warm water therapy pool, a general fitness area, and several fitness classrooms.

When an addition to the Bend Senior Center was proposed, the 60+ community was concerned they would be losing their amenities. Through thoughtful engagement and design, BRS showed the senior citizen community that they would be increasing their amenities while connecting to a multigenerational community.
The aquatics, fitness area and studios on the left of the diagrams above show the additon which connects with the existing Senior Center. The addition serves a multigenerational population.
The BRS scope of work included refining the program and budget for the new addition, and then creating design and construction documents for the new building and the remodel.
“It isn’t every project that I can say that working with a design team felt like an extension of our own! Truly enjoyed every minute of our interactions with team BRS!”
