Kabin

Denver, Colorado

Another addition to the Zeppelin developed Taxi Community in Denver’s RiNo district, the four-story, 110,000 sf Kabin project adds 200 units of residential housing to a developing urban neighborhood and will complement the existing and future mix of office spaces and living spaces along the riverfront.

Scandinavian Design

Led by Dynia Architects, the highly compacted modern design maximizes both built space and natural light. Named after a Nordic version of a cabin, the simplistic design focuses on comfort. The lobby and the central core of each unit is clad with cedar to provide warmth, in contrast to the modern finishes of sealed concrete, glass, white tile and white laminate.

Urban Living

Each space is outfitted with a garage door to bring the outside in. The studios are 455 sf and the two-bedroom units are 830 sf. The site is a long narrow strip between the RTD Light Rail and the RTD Maintenance garage.

Connections

The building’s close proximity to a future light-rail station and planned bicycle/pedestrian connections posed design challenges to meet setback requirements, mitigate noise and achieve daylighting goals; but also create the opportunity for Kabin to be a prime example of high-density, highly-connected affordable urban housing.
