In July 2013 the Town of Hudson began working with Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture to develop site planning, building programming and concept design for a new Town Hall, Library and public park to be located on a six-acre parcel of land on the east side of Beech Street. Once this process was completed, the Town decided to move forward with design and construction of the Hudson Public Library and associated site work as Phase 1 of the development.

The building design consists of 3 connected barn masses designed in the local vernacular to celebrate the rich history of the Hudson area. The 12,000 sf of interior space includes collection areas for adults, teens young adults, and children, a crafts room, study and meeting rooms, computer areas, and a game zone. In addition, an outdoor patio and screened porch area provide patrons an area for visiting or leisurely reading and take in the views of the surrounding prairie-like setting and to the mountains beyond.
