The project team of BRS and Johnson Walzer Architects worked with the city of Flagstaff to develop a feasibility study that included site recommendations, programming and conceptual design for a new indoor aquatics and multigenerational facility. The new 52,000 square foot, energy-efficient center is designed with every age in mind. It features a leisure pool with lazy river, community/multipurpose room, multi-activity (MAC) gymnasium, and weight and fitness areas with an elevated jog/walk track. The two-story gallery/lobby features natural daylighting and is complemented by wood timber construction. The natural materials allowed the building to nestle into the beautiful mountain landscape.
