Wheat Ridge Celebrates 25 years!
BRS recently had the honor of attending Wheat Ridge Recreation Center's 25th Anniversary on February 21st, 2025. In partnership with the City of Wheat Ridge, we created a video to celebrate the lasting impact of the recreation center on the community.
For 25 years, the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center has been more than just a building—it has been the heartbeat of a community. It stands as proof of what a determined and engaged community can accomplish when they come together with a shared vision.

Long before its doors opened in February 2000, the citizens of Wheat Ridge dreamed of a space where people of all ages and abilities could gather, grow, and thrive. For 15 years, they rallied, attended public meetings, walked in the Carnation Festival Parade, and voted to make this vision a reality. Their passion and persistence led to the passage of a sales tax initiative in 1997, and soon after, their dream took shape in the form of an award-winning, 69,000-square-foot facility designed by Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture.
The original barn stands in front of the center.
In front, a century-old preserved barn stands as a symbol of the community’s rich agricultural roots and inspires the shape of the contemporary barn at the center's entrance. Inside, every space tells a story—of first swim lessons, championship games, lifelong friendships, and celebrations of every kind. From the lap and leisure pools to the climbing wall, gym, fitness studios, and jogging track, the center has empowered generations to embrace movement, wellness, and fun.

Beyond recreation, the center has become a place where milestones are celebrated—wedding receptions, seminars, banquets, and business gatherings have all found a home here. It’s where neighbors become friends, where health and happiness flourish, and where a community’s spirit continues to grow stronger with each passing year.
A quarter of a century later, the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center is more than just a space—it’s a legacy, a reminder that when a community dreams together, incredible things happen. As BRS enters its 50th year, we want to celebrate the impact of the projects we love.
