Woodland Aquatic Center

A decades-long dream come true for the 'City Above the Clouds'

Nearly 70 years after a public pool was first proposed, the City of Woodland Park voted in 2014 in support of building the new 26,000 square foot Woodland Aquatic Center. The mission for the new center was:

To build a state-of-the-art Aquatic Center Complex that is affordable and accessible to all, offers a variety of leisure, wellness, competitive and instructional swimming opportunities, and serves as an appealing gathering spot for residents of and visitors to Teller County.

Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture worked with the City and residents to define key program elements, coordinate site selection, and design a facility that serves the needs of the community and the region. The final site is adjacent to Woodland Park High School to support a new team, and saved millions of dollars in site development costs.

Following the City’s mission for the project, the design of the new aquatic center includes a six-lane lap pool, a leisure/play pool, multi-purpose / party rooms, child watch, locker rooms and family cabanas, and support and administration spaces to facilitate a variety of activities. The facility will support competitive swim meets, youth swimming instruction, adult swimming instruction, lifeguard training, water aerobics, lazy river warm water therapy, water slide, scuba training, water polo & water volleyball, kayak training, paddle boarding, aqua recovery, underwater hockey.

Construction of the new facility began in May of 2016, and the facility opened its doors to the public in November of 2017. The new aquatic center will realize a decades-long dream of the community and be a gathering place for generations to come.
