Feasibility Study + Design
Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture’s relationship with the Shalom Cares community began in 2006 when the firm performed site and master planning services for a full-service senior recreation center. In 2009, Shalom Cares authorized BRS to proceed with the design of a 20,000-s.f. senior wellness center. BRS assisted the client during fundraising efforts, and in 2011 construction began for this exciting new state-of-the-art active-aging wellness center.
This unique facility was designed and constructed to meet specific needs of the Shalom Cares residents and seniors living within the community. The $6.1 million center includes a warm-water therapy and exercise pool; private changing rooms with showers; physical, speech and occupational rehabilitation therapy areas; a fitness center with programs and equipment specially designed and calibrated for seniors; a bistro with coffee and juice bar; a beauty salon and massage area; and community gathering and socialization spaces.
The staff and residents are thrilled with their new center, which opened in May 2012.
