Our job was to bring order, efficiency and an updated style to 75 years of complex additions and renovations to a 40,000-s.f. elementary school in Arvada, Colorado. Half the budget was allocated to upgrading the mechanical and electrical systems; the architectural challenge was to meet the aesthetic needs and desires of the client with the remaining budget.
We worked closely with a design advisory group to understand the needs of the school and its greater community. One rewarding solution was to have students personally design tiles for the new entryway. In addition, bright paint colors and new carpet brought renewed energy and playfulness to the school.
