Buchanan Park Recreation Center

Feasibility Study + Design

A steep, narrow site presented design challenges for this 31,000-s.f. center located one hour from Denver in the spectacular Rocky Mountains. Using the impressive mountains as a backdrop, Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture created a two-story solution that incorporates a climbing wall in the rotunda, which can be viewed from the upper level. Passive activities are housed on the upper level, which includes community rooms, babysitting and a games room. A sweeping staircase leads down to the fitness, aquatics and weights areas. The Buchanan Park Recreation Center is a popular gathering place for the entire community of Evergreen, Colorado.
