Feasibility Study + Design
In 2015, Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture completed a project feasibility study for the APEX Fitzmorris Park project. Through public input, the program was established to include a fitness room with cardio equipment and weights and an aerobics room. The most popular part of the program was a new outdoor pool that brought back a pool to the Fitzmorris Park. The design included a six-lane, 25-yard lap pool, and a small beach entry pool with water play features for younger swimmers. Six unisex cabanas, a guard room, pool storage and pool equipment room all support the operation of the pool. A small administration area completed the Fitzmorris program for a total building area of 8,863-s.f.
After a successful bond election, APEX PRD again selected BRS to complete design and take the project through construction. The work included another public meeting with the neighborhood to confirm the design was on track. The design includes gabled roof forms that the neighborhood desired to help the center fit in with the surrounding single-family residential neighborhood. While traditional in form BRS selected colorful fiber cement panels to communicate the modern forward thinking programs provided by APEX.
