Fall 2015 Project Updates

Fall 2015 Project Updates

As fall nears its end with winter close behind, the time has come to present our project updates. This round, we have the City of Aurora Public Safety Training Center, the Health, Wellness & Learning Center of Hobbs, New Mexico and The MARQ Southlake.

City of Aurora Public Safety Training CenterColorado
BRS, along with RDG, developed a program and master plan for a new regionally leading public safety center that brings together both police and fire in a shared training environment.

The classroom and administration building is nearing its final stages of construction with painting, flooring, exterior finishes and glazing underway.  Furniture installation is tentatively scheduled for mid-January.  The burn building and drill tower structures, concrete columns and concrete floors, are in place with concrete masonry walls currently being constructed and fire prop rough-ins being coordinated along the way.  It has been a dry fall, but winter is upon us with snow being consistent the past couple of weeks—site work continues to move ahead with the skills pad nearing completion.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the City of Aurora Public Safety Training Center will be on Friday, February 12, 2016.

Health, Wellness & Learning Center—Hobbs, New Mexico
The City of Hobbs hired BRS along with Dekker/Perich/Sabatini to design a facility that enhances and improves the quality of life, economic development and health of area residents. The 158,000 square foot complex includes a central atrium space for community lounge and play structure, child watch, games area, party rooms, locker rooms and cabanas, multi-purpose rooms, indoor soccer, indoor multi-use courts, aerobics, cardio, fitness & weight, elevated walk/jog and raised hill course track, and leisure, competition & wellness pools. The Design Development Phase of the project has just been completed, with the overall design to be complete in April 2016.
