Elyria-Swansea-Globeville Business Association Holiday Celebration

This December marked the fifth year that the ESGBA (Elyria-Swansea-Globeville Business Association) has put on a holiday celebration for less fortunate families in the Elyria-Swansea-Globeville community. Held at the National Western Stock Show Complex in the heart of the neighborhood, around 200 families from the community were invited to celebrate the holidays.
The celebration started off with a colorful performance given by local Flamenco dancers.
Soon after, music filled the room (as well as the attendees) with the holiday spirit when the Colorado Old Time Fiddlers’ Association took the stage.
Activities included face painting, carnival games, canvas painting, and visiting with Santa and Ms. Claus by the Christmas tree.
The community even had some special visitors which included Mayor Hancock and former players from the Denver Broncos.
Each child in every family was given the opportunity to select a toy to take home and enjoy, and every family had their portrait taken and framed—a Christmas keepsake to look back on. Each family also received meals to make for the holidays (turkey, ham, chicken, rice, beans and a large bag of fruit), toiletries and winter clothing as well.
The evening was one to remember, and we were honored to be a part of it.
