Blog: December 2014
'Twas eight days before Christmas, when all through the office
35 creatures were stirring, because they ate three gift baskets of toffees
White elephant gifts were chosen and opened with care, in hopes that their choosers wouldn't be left in despair
Employees were nestled all snug in their seats, until presents were stolen using tricks and deceit
When finally in the lobby there arose such a clatter, the food had arrived: Holiday appetizer platters
BRS noshed on the most amazing of things, baked brie with crackers and jalapeño poppers with zing!
After some drinks and some laughter and playing their games, they headed over to Drive 2 to continue their shame
They were greeted with bubbly right at the door, they cheered and they laughed until they were sore
The party wasn’t as rambunctious as this poem portrays, but nonetheless, BRS wishes you the happiest of holidays!Hide Full Post

In the small town of Hudson, Colorado 30 miles NE of Denver, dreams of a brand-new library facility for the town of just over 2,000 people are finally coming to life.Continue
The 11,000 square foot facility, which broke ground in September of this year, will have a Children’s, Teen and Adult collection as well as meeting rooms, offices, a help desk and a 1,000 square foot multipurpose room for both library and community meetings. Just outside the children’s collection will be a story time garden, where meandering paths and seating will create a wonderful outdoor atmosphere for readers of all ages during the warmer months of the year.
Since breaking ground, the building has topped-out and has been closed in to beat the snow. This facility is part of a larger master plan to construct a new town hall building next door to the library in the near future.
Over the next several months construction will continue on the exterior with the application of brick, stucco and metal roofing. On the interior, finishes and furniture will be installed which follow a rustic-railroad theme with some fun train-themed items throughout. The project is on schedule to open its doors to the town in April 2015.Hide Full Post

This December marked the fifth year that the ESGBA (Elyria-Swansea-Globeville Business Association) has put on a holiday celebration for less fortunate families in the Elyria-Swansea-Globeville community. Held at the National Western Stock Show Complex in the heart of the neighborhood, around 200 families from the community were invited to celebrate the holidays.Continue
The celebration started off with a colorful performance given by local Flamenco dancers.
Soon after, music filled the room (as well as the attendees) with the holiday spirit when the Colorado Old Time Fiddlers’ Association took the stage.
Activities included face painting, carnival games, canvas painting, and visiting with Santa and Ms. Claus by the Christmas tree.
The community even had some special visitors which included Mayor Hancock and former players from the Denver Broncos.
Each child in every family was given the opportunity to select a toy to take home and enjoy, and every family had their portrait taken and framed—a Christmas keepsake to look back on. Each family also received meals to make for the holidays (turkey, ham, chicken, rice, beans and a large bag of fruit), toiletries and winter clothing as well.
The evening was one to remember, and we were honored to be a part of it.
